USDA Commodity Foods
RSVP volunteers distribute USDA Commodity Food items every other month to needy families in Carson City, Caliente, Ely, Fallon and Yerington. (For distribution in other counties call 775-688-1160, Ext. 223) Distribution dates, times and places for the above areas for 2008 are:
Carson Ciy: 1/25..3/28..5/23..7/25..9/26..11/21
Caliente: 1/24..3/27..5/30..7/24..9/25..11/26
Ely: 1/23..3/26..5/28..7/23..9/24..11/25
Fallon: 1/17..3/20..5/22..7/24..9/18..11/20
Yerington: 1/23..3/26..5/21..7/30..9/24..11/17
Any needy families are eligible. The household must simply sign the ‘issuance sheet’ certifying that their household’s income does not exceed 150% of federal poverty guidelines. Those income guidelines currently are $22,972 for a single and $30,802 for a couple. No proof of income is required, only a picture ID/Drivers License. Food may be picked-up for the homebound or those unable to attend by bringing a signed note from them and their picture ID.
