The program is a cooperative effort by USDA, RSVP, the Nevada Department of Administration' Commodity Food Distribution Program, the Nevada Department of Agriculture, the Nevada Certified Farmers' Market Association and the Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division, whose purpose is to increase the consumption, production and distribution of locally grown fruits, vegetables and fresh unprocessed herbs, while supplementing nutritional needs for seniors.
Each eligible senior will receive 15 - $2.00 coupons redeemable for fresh fruits and vegetables at the local Farmer's Market. The free coupons will be distributed in the lobby of the Carson City Community Center on in June 2014. Seniors must bring their Nevada ID or driver's license and sign the self-certification form.
